I-Day

Twice each summer, Concordia Language Villages celebrates International Day at Waldsee, the German Village. This year our theme is "Become the Change." In honor of the events that occured in Norway this July, Sjölunden will be performing a special tribute during our closing day program. All of the activities we have prepared, from our T-shirts, to our art activity and closing day program reflect our solidarity with Norway and the difficult time they are now facing. These actions are inspired by the 2011 credit students themselves as they discussed and reflected on the implications this tragedy brought. We are proud to be a part of their journey through this difficult time and are overwhelmed by their compassion and energy as they struggle to understand how they can "Become the change."

Please take some time to listen to our credit students as they perform a tribute to Norway. Lyrics represented by red are sung in Norwegian. Those in blue are Swedish and the black represents English.

Kanskje du spør i angst, udekket, åpen:

Then all weapons will fall, from hands be released!

Respect humanity, we create peace.

Those who in their right arm carry a burden,

Priceless and precious, can never murder.

This is our solemn vow for all those who care.

We will show respect for this planet we share.

We will take care of the beauty and warmth as

If we were cradling an infant in our arms.
